I've known Michael from the fly fishing show circuit for quite a few years. His knowledge of rods and casting are a known entity. Simply put, he is an expert. So, when I got a chance to fish with Michael around Stuart Florida last winter I jumped a the opportunity. Michaels flats boat is well laid out for fly fishing. It is clean and open with thought given to reduce fly line snarls from bow to stern. Michael has also learned his water thoroughly. We hit a ton of spots without a lot of time lost to running. He brought the proper amount of intensity to the task while still making it fun. We focused on the fishing while still having good conversation and a few laughs. A great combination. At one location while casting over structure Michael politely offered me two minor suggestions to my casting. The first was an adjustment to my haul and the second to my release. Within 4 casts my line was going further with more ease. We all get bad habits over time and having an expert there to identify and offer fixes has so much value. In summary, I would wholeheartedly recommend Mauri charters to any fly fishing enthusiast. He has a lot to offer professionally and is a pleasure to spend time with. Ross K. MA

My wife and I were at the beginning of may six days with Michael. It was everything! We had a lot of fun on board and the mauris. Michael is always well informed and well networked. Docking only takes a few moments and many fish-y spots are quickly achieved: Inshore and offshore. His skiff is excellent for fishing: a lot of space, cool, bug-E-engine, navigation technology, platform for pole and much more. Michael always has enough fly on board - the catch! And the fish with his glass rods will be fun. Fine tuned tackle waiting on board. Professionally for snook, Jacks, Tarpon and other predators fishing? Combined with a portion of a good mood? I have spent a week of fishing with Michael in February 2018. The bait and weather situation was not ideal, but Michael was able to guide me to lots of snook, jacks and speckled trout. Flying over the water in his Tidewater skiff was as amazing as wading the flats, searching for bonefish and sheepshead. Michael was as much of a guide as you would expect from someone working in the business for more than 20 years. Lots of knowledge and a great mentor for increasing my flycasting skills.We had a lot of fun on the water, I'll surely come back!
